TRANSPARENCY
What Your Investment Covers
Vertical Sky is not the cheapest Kilimanjaro operator. We are deliberately, unapologetically not. Here is why, and here is exactly what your investment includes.
Park fees & Levies
Tanzania National Parks Authority fees are among the highest mountain park fees in the world, and make up a significant portion of any legitimate Kilimanjaro climb cost, typically 35–40% of the total. These are non-negotiable, fixed costs that every reputable operator includes in full. Any company offering dramatically lower prices is either omitting these fees or absorbing the difference from staff wages.
Guide & Porter Wages
We pay every guide and porter above the Kilimanjaro Porters Assistance Project (KPAP) recommended minimum. Porters receive proper meals, appropriate clothing for high-altitude conditions, and welfare support. This costs more. It is the right thing to do. And it directly affects the quality and safety of your climb.
Equipment & Logistics
Professional-grade tents, sleeping systems, cooking equipment, and safety gear. We carry supplemental oxygen on every climb. We do not reuse gear beyond its safe lifespan. This is not a luxury — on a mountain, quality equipment saves lives.
Pre-Climb Support
From your first enquiry to your return from the summit, you have direct access to our team. This includes personalised training guidance, packing advice tailored to your route, acclimatisation planning, and any logistical support you need before you arrive in Tanzania.
Community & Conservation Contribution
A percentage of every climb is directed into community development and conservation work in the Kilimanjaro region. This is built into our pricing — not a separate donation you are asked to make. When you climb with us, impact is included.
"A low price on Kilimanjaro has to come from somewhere. More often than not, it comes from the wages of the people carrying your bags."
A Note on Value
Kilimanjaro is likely a once-in-a-lifetime climb. The difference between a transformative experience and a miserable, failed attempt often comes down to guide quality, acclimatisation time, and the support infrastructure behind you. Choosing on price alone is rarely a saving, it is a risk transfer.
We offer competitive packages that reflect genuine operational costs and genuine ethical standards. If you want to understand exactly how our pricing breaks down, contact us. We will walk you through it line by line.
